The Alberni District Teachers’ Union (ADTU) represents and supports teachers, Teachers Teaching on Call (TTOCs), and Associated Professionals through advocacy, collaboration, and a strong collective voice. We uphold fair and respectful working conditions, promote equity and well-being, and ensure members are heard and supported throughout their professional lives. By standing together, we strengthen public education and create the conditions where both educators and students can thrive.
How we support members:
- Confidential advice and guidance: Personalized, confidential support for members navigating workplace questions, professional responsibilities, or employment-related matters.
- Health and safety: Collaboration and guidance on maintaining safe, respectful workplaces through WorkSafeBC processes, reporting, and joint health and safety initiatives.
- Contract and bargaining advocacy: Protecting and strengthening members’ rights under our collective agreement and contributing to local and provincial bargaining priorities.
- Equity and human rights: Support with discrimination or harassment concerns, and initiatives that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging across our worksites.
- TTOC and early-career supports: Assistance with call-out and pay matters, conversion language, mentorship, and opportunities for professional involvement.
